- 'myspace' and 'ask jeeves'
- a functional Windows OS
- 2D graphics in video games
- iPods that ONLY played music

and last but not least

Comically fun sites (bad pun sorry)

  • Mar. 16th, 2009 at 8:54 AM

here i have for you some fun comics to check out, all of which are totally work freindly, so don't worry about popping one open in the middle of class (not that I"D ever do something like that...)

Book of Biff: A wonderful comic, basically done in one single frame with a caption, every single one a priceless looking into the fictional and may i add quite peculiar life of Biff. updated almost daily, and with a good three years of old archieved comics to look back on, this one won't get old.

XKCD: a bit of an odd comic, it's humor ranges from corny word-play to astro physics, and beyond (there are a few i still can't figure out) though even wit thes occasional hard to figure out comic they are all worth a read. best part is it updates quite regularly and the writer is an employee at NASA so you can assume some of his work buddies might get his higher up jokes. (bonus: if you hover muse over comic he leaves more jokes and commentary int he alt tag that appears.)

Brawl in the Family: for my gamer followers (you know who you are!) this comic started by a elementary school math teacher, covers a range of humor found in video games, mostly the Super Smash Brothers franchise, and will occasionally fall into other aspect of gaming, or just social situations using said characters. his art style is simple, and he will throw a colored one in every few issues, so thers always a reason to check out this twice weekly-updated comic.

Awkward Zombie: an odd little comic written by a nice gaming girl with one hell of an issue when it comes to her opinion... much like the above "brawl in the family or BitF) she fall in the category of Smash Brothers, but will commonly venture into tales of other game,s (like World of Warcraft) and even her own life (which make me really laugh sorry!) check them out and support her.

Super Effective: sadly not updated nearly as often as most, and still fairly new to the web-comic world, this spin off series (from the original series VG CATS also a good web comic). the series is based on the classic Pokemon red/blue game boy games. if you were one of those millions of kids who grew up wishing to be the next pokemon-master, this is a comic for you, as you know you were just like him once.

hope some of these were enjoyable and next time I'll be posting some good video series to follow (both online and downloadable podcast on iTunes) Until next time followers catch me on twitter (twitter.com/boxlessthought) and stay cool!

been a while, eh!

  • Mar. 13th, 2009 at 4:56 PM

well not much new has happened (all minor updates on twitter) so i dub today a link dump, this is where i dump a bunch of links i think our cool, or are just thing I'd like to share, so here we go!

twitter: this site is huge all over the world, but i find very little support for it in local areas, (even though MTL has a very active but small collective of users) i thought it would be a fun little project to look into very fun little thing to have and as dumb as it may look (like a lil blog with 140 character updates) you find yourself addicted quite quickly! and after you add tons of interestign celebs, and famous ppl to follow it gets addictive. trust me try it for a week and then tell em you want out!, oh and if you do join, for a good start follow peopel you know, *cough* twitter.com/boxlessthought *cough*

chaharisong: my gf has started posting some of her cover songs on youtube, i won't give my obvious opinion, but i mean whatever comments, and views she can get help, if you do end up liking it, expect updates every week or so, (actually I'm late at posting her next piece) so lend a rising star a hand, thanks!

i guess next up is

my new grounds page: ya okay so a lot of shameless plugging here (was gonna post a pic of a plug with a bikini half off, but lost the pic oh-well you can picture it instead)

Newgrounds/Boxlessthought: ya some of my flash work (and through this links to other much better work by other who are again much better than I) so if you want a cheap laugh (my stuff) or a great flash experience in movies, games, and now music, art, and lit, be sure to check all of new grounds.

and thats all the good links i can find right now, sorry thought i had more, well I'll update this weekend with list of the best online web-comics, and a short review included maybe?

see you all in the FUTURE!

p.s. lost my cell phone black sony erricson, camera with cover on back, candy-bar style, if any one sees it, let me know please.

Tattoo (question mark?)

  • Mar. 2nd, 2009 at 12:17 AM

So i have always thought about getting a tattoo or in the words of The Offspring "getting ink done." and well i've had a few ideas, nothing amazing, but a few ideas all of which might go right over your head unless your a nerd or a gamer at least. (unless stated otherwise the tattoo would most likely be on one of my ankles purely as it woudl eb easily hidden, and kinda weird.)

  • in a digital sprite font from classic games, "sorry but your princess is in another castle."

  • in the font from the game Disgaea, "Dood!" underlined with a crimson red scarf/ribbon

  • the game sprite of mega man dieing (little blue explosion, very recognizable) possible placed on forearm or back of hand

  • game sprite of a "bomb-omb" - equal sign (=) - game sprite of bomb-omb explosion

  • game sprite from Kirby, Meta knights sword planted int he groud (tip cut off, illusion of it stabbed in skin) possible located on arm and bigger than actual sprite

  • placed on back of the fore arm, game sprite of street fighter's Ryu's "Hadokken" fire ball

those are the only ones i can think of right now, let me know which ones you liek, and expect an updated version of this post some time soon with photo shopped version of these tattoos, as I'm curious to know how they would look and what people think, so please comment like mad (and if you have no idea what a certain pic looks like google it)

Something New

  • Feb. 22nd, 2009 at 12:12 PM

I do a lot of crazy stuff, I've driven a boat blindfolded one time, dressed as a chicken and danced around a public park, but i decided to do this with friends this time.

Me Jason Kevin, and 2 more pals who tagged along (Alex and Kelvin), so originally are plan was to head out to this nice little place near Jason and Kevin's called "Beer and Sausage" it would be a chance to try many exotic beers from around the world, and sausages from many delicious places. so of course we are all excited, we meet we get to the beer and sausage place, to find that they closed at 6:00 on Thursdays... (may i add it was only 6:06) so we had to think on our feet something new.

We got out of our cars at the IGA about 2 minutes away fom the beer and sausage place. and got ourselves breakfast at night. that was it 5 guys who don't cook, cooking sausage, maple bacon, pancakes, hash browns, and my most amazing eggs (i did practice 1 or 2 times earlier). this ended up beign the best meal ever, and i am now trying to cook more and more, just this morning i began my day with pancakes in bed... not th ebest but hell anything cooked is great when filled with chocolate chips. I'll have them perfected next batch i know it, and after that who knows what I'll cook.

to add to this blog post i also include a 3 part video set filmed while we cooked (or cooked while we filmed lol). note there is a lot of swearing and loud noise, and some overall wacky-ness (again 5 guys alone at home cooking for the first time with beer!) oh ya we still had beer in the end. and to any who are curious we had an Irish sampler pack (mixing Guiness and Kilkenny was the smoothest thing ever.)

Videos:

P.S. expect more cooking with nerds segments to appear over march break, as we think brunch may be on the horizon for this group!

another game review

  • Feb. 13th, 2009 at 2:43 AM

here is another gaming review, and holding true to previous format one retail title and one arcade pick

Prince of Persia: http://prince-of-persia.us.ubi.com/index.php
(Available on: Xbox 360, PS3)
a lot of whining when this one hit shelves, people wanted more of their classic prince, and his time powers. i never actually played them, but they never really called out to me, but this one looked good, so i dove straight in. An action plat-former, that actually works well in 3D, with acrobatics ranging form wall runs, wall/ceiling climbs, and even a few magic techniques to make the long stretch from safe ground to the end of your stunt a lot more fun. a big complaint that hit the internets was that the game did not allow you to fail, in a fight or a fall you just got a hand from your magical (and very well designed) female friend. most saw this as too easy, but if you think of the time the game saves, as you will be falling from great height mid run quite often, to replace her 3 second clip of her saving you, with a "game over" screen and a reload... well to put it simply i wouldn't own this game any more i'd have in my possesion several shards of a disc.

over all, I highly recomend this game to any looking for a good action game, great voice acting, has enough romance and comedy to keep you interested but not enough to mkae you hat these chatcters, and as an added bonus they've just announced some download content to add more levels to this game.

The Maw: http://www.mawgame.com/
(Available on Xbox Live Arcade)
simply one of the best looking and most amazing concepts for an xbox live game, I'll admit now, it's easy, short, and there's no real "losing" unless you give up, but if you have 800 points spare, and want a short but fun adventure (with an easy 200 point for your gamer score if i may add) so for those who have the point Available around, and want to se the best XBLA has to offer, (assuming you have already bought both games from http://www.thebehemoth.com/ already) then this is a title you may want to investigate, and as usual free demo online now.
